Come To Florida on a Special Escape!
January on Amelia Island in Florida is the perfect escape from winter woes ! With average daytime temperatures of 64 degrees the weather is perfect for sightseeing, riding bikes, golf or just relaxing on the wide porches at the Amelia Island Williams House. For all the folks in colder climates, we are offering a special that includes a dinner voucher ($60.00 value) for some of the best local restaurants in Fernandina Beach (our historic town on Amelia Island) included with any two night stay during January.
History, Great Food, Fun!
The Williams House is located in the historic district of Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island and offers easy walking to more than thirty local restaurants and dozens of boutique shops, art galleries, antiques stores, the downtown harbor, and several bars, including the Palace Saloon-the oldest continuously operating saloon in Florida. It is an easy bike ride to the ocean (13 miles of beach), Fort Clinch State Park (pre-civil war fort), or the local museum where the history of Amelia Island can be experienced with a local docent or on your own. Cruising the harbor on one of several daily cruises and seeing Fort Clinch from the riverside adds another history lesson from experienced guides as well as views of Cumberland Island and it’s wild horses and marshlands. Dolphins often accompany the boat and some tours also show you the ruins of the original Carnegie mansion from the river. If you’re lucky, you may see a nuclear or regular submarine entering or exiting from King’s Bay Station. Guests can also take a Horse drawn historic carriage tour of Fernandina which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, ride horses on the beach, experience a Segway tour on the beach or at historic Kingsley Plantation, or just take a scenic drive to neighboring barrier islands south including Big Talbot, Little Talbot and Fort George.
