<div class="mceTemp">Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach awakes each Spring to the fragrant smell of Confederate Jasmine.  Blooming for about two weeks, one catches whiffs of the sweet smelling vine at nearly every turn.  We have several fences covered with the vine at the Williams House and the past two weeks were delightful.  It&#8217;s a tenacious vine and has to be trimmed or there soon won&#8217;t be any fence or trellis visible. It also loves to climb into nearby trees and vines seem to even lift in the air several feet to get a grasp on nearby brances.  The front porchof Hearthstone cottage was a favorite hang-out for guests during this period because the nearby vine offers steady fragrance and memories of Springtimes past.  I love the way it looks around gates but it also is attractive on trees (particularly someone  else&#8217;s).  Now magnolias are blooming and the final floral blooming that began with azaleas in mid-February awaits the summers start with Crape Myrtles.  Oleander is also in bloom with a lot of white and pink around town.</div>
