Aspiring Innkeeper Seminar or Innkeeping 101
Innkeeping can be both Art and Science and as the saying goes “the devil is in the details”. Potential innkeepers can learn those details in a weekend aspiring innkeeper seminar February 7-9 at the Williams House B&B on delightful Amelia Island. Whether you are looking for a lifestyle change (yes there is a different world than corporate) or investing in your own small business, this seminar invites you to understand Innkeeping from a broad industry perspective to hands- on details while staying at an operating B&B and interacting with the owners. The seminar is being led by Lodging Resource Partners, with David Caples and Helen Cook as principals and experts in the B&B and innkeeping industry. Both David and Helen are experienced innkeeper owners/operators, practice innkeeping consulting, and developed and operate the premiere inn sale website, www.BedandBreakfastforSale.com. Whether you are already seriously looking for an Inn to purchase, just beginning to consider the industry, or are just interested in learning more about this arena, your needs will be fulfilled. Seminar Highlights are detailed below and cover virtually every facet of the innkeeping activity with hands-on experiences and reality dominating the discussions and shared experiences.
Real Innkeepers/Real Inn
Your hosts for the weekend seminar are actual, real, hardworking innkeepers, Byron and Deborah McCutchen owners of the Amelia Island Williams House Bed and Breakfast. Entering their 9th year of innkeeping they will be sharing the experience of owning and operating a bed and breakfast in today’s climate of 24/7 consumer expectations and the ever changing technology of attracting and satisfying today’s guest. Experiencing this same seminar led Byron and Deborah on a five state, 20 property search that resulted in purchasing the Williams House. After significant renovations, the addition of two guests rooms, and many experiments in the evolving process of satisfying guests, the McCutchen’s have developed their own successful model based upon the concepts and principles taught by David and Helen. Seminar participants will have the opportunity to peer behind the innkeeping curtain and observe the activities needed to keep an Inn running well, attracting guests and delivering value and five star guest experiences.
